What to Expect at a Home Visit

Coming to your home means using the tools in your natural environment to best help you with nursing. Sometimes, it can be challenging to replicate positions or techniques that you learned outside of home, simply because you don’t have the same chair, sounds, pillows, footrest, or any similar items to do so. By consulting with me, you don’t need to bring anything or travel!

Initial Consultation Includes the Following:

1-2 Hour Consultation

Assessment of Mother & Baby

Baby Weight Check (Before and After Feeding)

Observed Feeding Session

Feeding Plan

Recommendations

On-going Support

* Prenatal Counseling and Follow-up consultations also available. Please contact me for details.*

Preparing for the Home Visit

The most important thing about this is that you and your baby are comfortable. That may mean just rolled out of bed and in your pajamas. You do not need to clean the house either! I am here to help you and your family breastfeed in your natural environment. Being a parent myself, I understand the life of having a young baby!

Here are a few things you need to prepare and bear in mind for the visitation:

Please complete the electronic intake and forms at  least 24 hours prior to my visit so that I can review the information and make the most of our time together.

Your baby should be hungry and interested in eating so that I can observe and assist with feeding. Please refrain from feeding your baby for at least 1 hour before our appointment time.

I would prefer to observe you feeding in the usual nursing spot. Please have any pillows or equipment that you normally use nearby.

I need a small table or just a small space on the floor for a baby scale. Please also have a spare baby blanket for weighing the baby.

Your feeding/pumping log/baby stats log to review together if you have.

Jot any questions down ahead of time.

We may need to assess and use  your breast pump so  please have it available with a cleaned kit.

Due to the recent Covid-19 Pandemic, extra famiy members are welcome, but asked to be kept at a minimum. Masks are recommended for all who are present.

Please keep all pets contained in a seperate room for the duration of the visit so I can focus on you. Pet behaviors can be unpredictable when a stranger enters their home and interacts with members of their family.
